Born in 1983, the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche recognized the infant as the 5th Dhilyag Sabchu Rinpoche.
At age 5, he began the rigorous spiritual training accorded important reincarnate teachers.
He spent his early years at the Sri
Karma Raja Maha Vihar, a Karma Kagyu monastery in Swayambhu, Nepal.
At age 10, he began studying advanced Buddhist philosophy and traditional meditation practices under the guidance of
highly realized teachers from all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. At 17, Sabchu Rinpoche began the
traditional three-year retreat in Pharping, near the cave where the great saint Padmasambhava attained enlightenment.
There he received all the oral transmissions and empowerments of the Karma Kagyu lineage under the
guidance of Maniwa Lama Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche. Today, Sabchu Rinpoche serves as head of a
meditation center in Seattle, WA and as co-head of Sri Karma Raja Maha Vihar. He teaches Buddhism throughout Asia and the US.

All of us yearn to be happy, yet our mental habits of jealousy, greed, anger etc. keep us from achieving any stable state of happiness.
It is possible to transform these mental patterns into liberating qualities through understanding our Buddha Nature and practicing the means
that can set us free. During this weekend, students will have the rare opportunity to study with and receive guidance for the practice of
meditation from an authentic lineage holder and meditation master.
